Bedtime. KO watching Phineas & Ferb. I sit down by him and take a bite of a carrot.

KO (still watching his show, speaking in a langorous, imperial manner): I don’t like that crunching sound.

Me: Oh. Sorry.

KO: Just eat it at the end of the show.

(long pause while KO waits for me to agree; I say nothing)

KO: Because then I will be asleep.

(another long pause)

KO: And then I won’t have to not like the sound of crunching any more.

Me: Okay.

(KO continues watching his show, apparently satisfied.)
